National Hydrography Database

The National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) is a feature-based database that interconnects and uniquely identifies the stream segments or reaches that make up the nation's surface water drainage system. The following distance-based variables are derived from NHD stream and water body features.

Variable Metric Units Description Source Layers
Distance to Stream Distance to stream m This raster file represents the Euclidean distance to streams as per the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD). It provides a measure of the shortest straight-line distance from each raster cell to the nearest stream. USGS NHD
Distance to Water Distance to water m This raster file illustrates the Euclidean distance to water bodies according to the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD). It provides a measure of the shortest straight-line distance from each raster cell to the nearest water body, including lakes, rivers, and streams. USGS NHD
